Bradley Scholten received his BS in Biology from Calvin University (Grand Rapids, MI) in 2019. During his undergraduate, he studied avian schistosome parasites that cause swimmers itch and looked at the effects of drone flying on physiological and behavioral stress in tree swallows. Since joining the Genetics and Genomics Scholars program at NC State in Fall of 2020, Bradley is studying avian malaria parasites for his PhD in Biology. A joint effort with the Burford Reiskind & Reiskind labs and the Kays lab, his research will look at disease severity over an urban-rural gradient in both the bird host and mosquito vector. In his free time, Bradley loves keeping aquariums, following Michigan State basketball, and traveling with his wife anywhere where there is snorkeling or hiking.
